The transition to a new economy is already underway across South and Southeast Asia, with communities navigating climate stress, changing livelihoods, and rising costs.

As countries define what a just transition looks like, one question remains: Whose voices are heard?

From strengthening farmer institutions and accessing social protection to addressing health and care needs, women are already at the frontlines of communities adapting to a changing climate.

Why this Conversation Matters Now

This year’s Bangkok Climate Action Week theme, Rao Likit: A New Economy for a New Climate, puts human and ecological wellbeing at the centre of progress.

To explore what this means in practice, Oneworld Colab is convening “Who Writes the Transition?” by bringing together grassroots leaders, climate advocates, funders and policymakers from across South and Southeast Asia.

The conversation will bring perspectives from women-led farmer groups, women- headed households, climate-vulnerable communities and those addressing the often- overlooked health costs of transition. It will also examine how funding can better reach and support women-led and grassroots climate action.

Designed as a dialogue, the session will ask: Who gets to shape priorities, influence investment decisions and define the transition?

Join us and our partners in Bangkok on 5th October to be part of the conversation on building a transition that reflects the voices and realities of those shaping it on the ground.
